Alberto Matarredona Donat - Tenor Sax

Born in Ontinyent (Valencia). At the age of 8, he began his musical studies at the school of music “José Mª Ferrero” of the ‘Societat Unió Artística Musical d’Ontinyent’ with the intention of, two years later, continue studying at the ‘Conservatorio Profesional “Josep Melcior Gomis”’ of his home town.

 

In 2009, he was chosen unanimously to receive the Final Honorary Prize for his professional studies in his speciality, saxophone. In July of the same year, he entered the ‘Real Conservatorio Superior de Música de Madrid’, where he would end his musical studies with honours. In September, he was admitted at the ‘Conservatoire de Lyon’ in order to improve his technique in Professor, Composer and Concert Jean-Denis Michat’s saxophone class.

 

He has attended numerous training courses and Masterclasses with different professors, such as Carlos Revert, Claude Delangle, David Alonso, Antonio Felipe, Tomás Jerez, Jordi Fuster, Federico Coca, Ensemble Squillante, David Pons, Jean-Marie Londeix, Eugène Rousseau, Arno Bornkamp, Jean-Denis Michat and Christian Wirth, among others.

 

As a soloist, he has been awarded with the first prize at the “Música Viva” contest in Sant Joan d’Alacant in 2008; with the second prize at the ‘I Concurso de Jóvenes Intérpretes “Villa d’Agullent”’ in 2008 and with the first prize at the ‘XVII Concurso de Jóvenes Intérpretes “Ciutat de Xàtiva”’ (in the A mode) in the woodwind category in 2016.

 

He has been member of the ‘Banda Federal de la Comunidad Valenciana’ during the years 2009, 2010 and 2012. From 2013 to 2015 he has been tenor saxophone at the Ensemble of the ‘Conservatoire de Lyon “Artisanat Furieux”’ under the direction of Jean-Denis Michat.

 

Nowadays, he is member of the “Orquestra de Vents Filharmonia” under the direction of José Rafael Pascual Vilaplana and of the saxophone quartet “Aslan Ensemble”, where he is tenor saxophone and also a founding member. In addition, he has been tenor saxophone at “Seiklus Ensemble” since 2016.
