Javier Blasco Alemany - alto sax

Born in Real (Valencia), curious by nature, he discovered classical music at the local band   in his village, where, since he was five years old, he attended fascinated every rehearsal and class.

 

He began studying bassoon, clarinet and even piano, although he would be quickly captivated by the saxophone and all the possibilities that it offered him. He inherited the instrument and he studied all his career with it. He passed through the ‘Conservatori Professional de Música de Torrent’ (CPMT), later through the ‘Conservatorio Profesional de Música del País Vasco’ (Musikene) and finally through the ‘Haute École de Musique de Genève’ (HEM), where he would improve his most contemporary facet.

Active and tireless, from a very young age, he has participated in all sorts of contests obtaining large prizes, highlighting the Accesit at the “IV Concurs Obert per a Joves Interprets Vila” in Betxi, the final degree Extraordinary Prize in Abdon García’s class, the second-prize at the “Concurs Vicent Galbis” of CPMT and the special prize for the best interpretation of a contemporary piece at the “Concurs l’Arjau” of Barcelona.

 

He is not far behind regarding chamber music, since he has achieved success with the saxophone quartet “Adsax”, which he is a founding member, such as the third prize at the “XXV Concurso de Cámara” of Manresa (Barcelona), the second prize at the “I Concurso de Música de Cámara” of Montserrat (Valencia) or the first prize at the “VII Concurso de Música de Cámara Higini Anglés” of Reus (Tarragona).

 

Since he has had the opportunity, he has given concerts with all sorts of group formations, both national and internationally, highlighting places such as the “Kursaal Auditorium” of Donostia - San Sebastián, the “Fundación Joan March” of Madrid, the “Teatro Campos Eliseos” of Bilbao, the cultural centre of “La Beneficiència” of Valencia, the swiss saxophone congress of Laussanne and the “Théâtre Grütli” of Ginebra, among others.

 

He has given concerts as a soloist and as a member of orchestras, in both instrumental music and operas. Javi is a daring and multifaceted musician and it has been demonstrated by his work in many other musical and audio-visual fields. He has collaborated with the rock music group “Reincidentes” and he has participated in various occasions in the radio programme “Onda Cero” with the “Adsax” quartet. Also, he took responsibility for the supervision of the musical scenes and was responsible for some sound effects in the film “l’âme du tigre”, by the prestigious director François Yang, which was premiered on 24 September 2016.
