Alfredo Varela Sánchez - Alto Sax

Born in La Garrovilla, Badajoz. He began his classic saxophone studies when he was 9 years old at the ‘Conservatorio Profesional de Música “Esteban Sánchez” de Mérida’, with Professor Antonio Moreno, finishing them with honours. Afterwards, he entered the ‘Conservatorio Profesional de Música del País Vasco’ (Musikene) under the guidance of Professors Eric Devallon, Tomás Jerez and Antonio Felipe. Also, he has attended Masterclasses beside different Professors such as Claude Delangle, Jean Denis Michat and Marie-Bernadette Charrier, among others.

 

Influenced by modern music and jazz, he has also attended several jazz Masterclasses and seminars guided by great musicians of this genre as Chick Corea, Perico Sambeat or Grant Stewart.

 

He also collaborates with bands of a wide range of styles such as jazz, soul, blues and funky, participating in disk recordings and giving concerts in France, Portugal and Spain.

 

Nowadays, he teaches at the ‘Escuela Municipal de Música’ of Herrera del Duque (Badajoz, Extremadura) and at the ‘Escuela de Enseñanza Musical “Santa Cecilia”’ of Madrid.
